US President Barack Obama plays basketball whenever his hectic schedule in and out of the White House permits. The president plays basketball not just for exercise to keep himself fit for the rigors of the presidency but he loves to play the game he likes best. Back in Hawaii, where he spent his best years in high school, Obama was a member of a basketball team at Panahou High School and went by the name "Barry" as he was called by teammates. His passion for basketball helped him forge an identity and provided "a community of sorts" as bared in his memoir. Last November, the US president got 12 stitches in his upper lip when Rey Decerega, who is the director of programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, accidentally elbowed Obama in the face while playing defense opposite the president during their game at Fort McNair near the White House. During his campaign sorties in the last presidential election, the US president played basketball whenever he got an invitation with amateur players along the campaign trail. In contrast, Manny Pacquiao loves to box in the ring. Like Obama, Pacquiao rose from the bondage of poverty to become famous the world over in the sports he loves best—boxing. But the two world famous sports enthusiasts have one thing in common—they both love to play basketball. During his four-week training in Baguio, a mountain city in the Philippines, in preparation for his fight with Mexican Antoinio Margarito last November, Pacquiao was repeatedly warned by his trainer and coach Freddie Roach, to stop playing basketball while training for his next fight. Second to boxing, Manny Pacquiao loves to play basketball whenever his tight schedule permits. But in the final days of his training in Baguio City, he had to set the game aside. During the last days of his training, Pacquiao's coach Freddie Roach had finally spoken. "Tomorrow is his last day playing basketball," Roach said. Roach banned Pacquiao from playing basketball in the final days of his training in Baguio City before moving with his entourage to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, CA. The world's best boxing trainer said Pacquiao should likewise put an end to his weekend trip to Manila for his social functions. Whenever an opportunity comes during his training, Pacquiao would always go back to playing basketball. Right after his arrival in Los Angeles last year for the continuation of his training, Pacquiao, without prior clearance from his trainer, traveled to San Diego to coach his ragtag basketball team in a local tournament. The Filipino ring icon has his own basketball team in the Philippines, and when time permits, he tries to be with his team during the games. Indeed, Barack Obama and Manny Pacquiao have one thing in common—basketball. This article is What is the duplicate article? Why is this article offensive? Where is this article plagiarized from?
