MELFA -- Grandmaster Elton Trower, owner-instructor of the Karate Warriors Dojo/Gym in Melfa, is organizing and seeking new fighters for the 2011 season of kickboxing, boxing and grappling.

Anyone interested in training for amateur fighting and participating in local and long-distance events may stop by the Dojo/Gym on Route 13 south in Melfa or call Trower at 757-678-7637.

Classes are Saturdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Exercise/Aerobic classes are forming soon on Tuesdays for those interested in losing weight and getting fit.

Grandmaster Trower and Sensei Karen Smith recently traveled to Atlantic City, N.J., for the MMA Expo sponsored by James Jefferson. Trower was given VIP status and there were many MMA celebrities, action film stars and competitors in attendance. The event also hosted a bodybuilding event, weightlifting and karate tournament.

Trower was asked to join the MMA circuit attend future events around the country. He is also in the process of making a DVD of his performances. Grandmaster Trower gave a spectacular performance of breaking using techniques of CHI and DIMMAK and awed the crowd. He showed how focus and concentration are essential elements and showed the Iron Palm and the Poison Finger techniques on a full unopened can of soda.

Grandmaster Trower and Sensei Smith will soon travel to the Arnold Schwarzenegger event in Columbus, Ohio, and then to Philadelphia, Chicago, Las Vegas and Florida.

Children's and Adult martial arts classes are Monday and Wednesday night from 6 to 7 p.m. Call Trower at 757-678-7637 or stop by the Karate Warriors Dojo/Gym.
